Why did I create Sexy Sobriety?
It was in March 2014 that I last had a hangover. Since I last woke up at 5am, staring at the ceiling with my dehydrated head pounding, wondering why the hell I kept doing this to myself…
It was in March 2014 that I last had a drink.
And if you’d told me back then that life would be better on this side, I wouldn’t have believed you.
How would I have fun? How would I relax? How would I socialise, without wine?
I wouldn’t have understood exactly how much sobriety enhances my clarity, creativity, and productivity. I wouldn’t have known the difference it makes to my confidence and self-worth – or just how freakin’ proud of myself I would feel.
If I hadn’t tried a sobriety experiment for myself, I’d never have known my true potential.
But I’m not gonna’ lie, the first 90 days were tough.
Every night at 6pm, when I’d usually pour myself a glass of wine, I didn’t quite know what to do with myself. I felt irritated and out-of-sorts. I wanted to feel happy and confident in my choice not to drink. Forget FOMO, I wanted to feel empowered by the changes I was making.
So I had an idea.
I felt deeply inspired to create something that would help other women through those first 90 days. So they could see for themselves just how good sobriety can feel, and what a difference it can make to their lives.
Inspiring interviews with kick-ass babes who wouldn’t be where they are now if they hadn’t ditched the drink. Sophisticated, sugar & alcohol-free elixir recipes, to keep their mouths deliciously occupied. Stories, pep talks and journals, for deep reflection and getting their heads straight.
Fun, simple, daily exercises. A coaching program to make it feel like an adventure, not deprivation.
Sexy Sobriety is finally here! Won’t you join us?
I got to know, through Bex and others who eventually took her Sexy Sobriety course, that it was amazing. Here was a woman who was not only embracing herself and all that she was without the glass of champa’s in her hand, but she was creating a safe space for all women who would like to do the same thing. A place they could go and be supported in. Which is something that was, and is, desperately needed.
Where I can still get caught up in some of my darkness surrounding becoming sober, Bex is a light. She has an energy about her that is not only contagious, but is exactly what is needed to help women realise there is a fabulously amazing life outside of the 3am kebab’s, the falling asleep in the back of cabs, the memory blanks, the guilt and shame and the loss of self that can come with a wonky relationship with booze.
I am honoured that now I can share a resource unlike any other in the market today when it comes to helping women break free from this pattern of life – Bex’ online home of ‘Sexy Sobriety’.
